Miles Adkins, who sits on the Frederick County School Board, was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 27, according to an FBI affidavit.

"We don't allow bullies in the schools so I'm not going to be bullied off the board," said Adkins, who represents the Shawnee district.

Since 2021, Adkins has been charged with DWI and public intoxication. When asked about the charges by Daily Voice, Adkins said he made mistakes in the past and took responsibility for them. When asked if he would attend the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot again in hindsight, he said he believed "everyone has the right to address their government."

Adkins was identified in the charging documents as a member of the FCSB. He allegedly messaged a Facebook friend detailing plans for a trip to Washington D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021, and offered them a ride.

That day, he traveled from Stephens City, VA to D.C., and was captured entering the Capitol wearing a black baseball cap that read "CHUCK," sunglasses, and a grey scarf, the FBI said.

Adkins shared photos and videos through social media of himself in the Capitol, authorities said. Specifically, he was captured on surveillance holding a large, canned beverage.

On social media, Adkins bragged about drinking a Coors Lite in the Capitol, the FBI said. He was later seen dancing in the middle of a group in the Crypt.

"I drank fireball and a coors lite in the capitol in the capitol," he said in a Facebook message detailed by the FBI.

He left the Capitol just after 3:30 p.m. and can be heard yelling, "Let's go get a beer!" repeatedly, federal paperwork says.

Adkins faces charges of entering and remaining in a restricted building, disruptive conduct in a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and unlawful picketing in a Capitol building.

Last summer, Adkins was charged with DUI after being stopped by a trooper, then refused a breathalyzer test, the NV Daily reported at the time citing State Police. The year before, he was charged with public intoxication in Prince William County, the outlet said.

In 2014, he was found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage in Florida, and told The Winchester Star that he'd "made some personal changes since then," while running for the school board.

When asked for a statement FBSB Chair Scott Sturdivant said, in part:

While we do not condone the underlying allegations, we also understand that the court system involves a decision-making process that is separate from the role and obligations of our School Board.
As that process proceeds, our focus will stay where it needs to: on the children in our county. We will continue to make decisions that serve in the best interests of our students, while working to ensure that the educational environment in our schools is not disrupted by these events.
